+# Moderation Decision
+
+This probably isn't all moderation decisions (it would be way too much), but rather when a notable one comes to our attention.
+
+This is not meant as a way to say, "do what we say" but more this is why we made the decision that we did.
+
+This *only* applies to PeerTube moderation, there may be Mastodon moderation or other ActivityPub moderation we are not noting here.
+
+## Kolektiva 
+
+This was one we saw mentioned multiple times.  Some of the videos there were "questionable" such as the 1st ammendment audits and stuff like that, but we couldn't really fault them on that, and that action in general could be very much a wise progressive move, and at other times it could be just more or less pure questionable stuff.  
+
+For example...  Why would you do this for a Chick'Fil'a or whatever that's called?  Sure I don't support the company's owner's or what they are doing with the company, but hanging out and making a point about your right to film a private business, and the people *at* the private business, and *share* that when (from what I can tell), you didn't start with a *reason* is um surveilence?  Something?  Not cool, and I can't say that's one that was on Kolektiva.

+But I heard people saying how bad they were, and then when I asked they wouldn't say why (maybe they never saw my questions?), so I couldn't act on that until...
+
+There was a *clear* Proud Boys video, that when I spotted it almost certainly was at least a month old...  That in itself would be questionable (failing to moderate your own instance in a timely manner, actively), but from what I see, that video is *still there* over 6 months later and my own reporting of it at a minimum.

+## Diode.zone
+
+This is more personal than the Kolektiva one.  Though some of it is related.  Videos which to varying degrees promoted everything from "questionable tech advice" to "supporting people who support fascists" failing to get moderated until they are reported, and sometimes not at all.
+
+That of course is fair.  The owner of the instance may feel free to not moderate content which they are OK with.  This *likely* would have gone un-noted on my part (even with deciding to moderate them), had it not been the site owner publicaly stating that my use of the moderation system was "abuse" and stating I was "unhinged" and a "troll."
+
+Not that again I feel they aren't welcome to their opinion, but rather that as an instance admin, it is prefered generally to consider these decisions quietly, and in private until such time as it becomes clear that this is something others should be made aware of.

+## PeerTube Moderation thoughts
+
+As PeerTube is currently set up, and I'm not sure this is something which can be changed, the report function has *no* way to do anything other than report to the remote instance as well.
+
+I personally feel this is actually a desireable way of handling things.
+
+While I can see you may really only be looking at a local moderation message (recording something locally), even that can be helpful when considering active moderation, as simply noting that someone might be unhappy, is actually worth noting, even if your only response is said noting.
+
+On a Mastodon instance, when on that instance I had active moderation going on, the moderator noted something about my having blocked someone, and messaged me to point out that person also had another account which they asked if I wanted to block.  I was aware of the other account, and my reason for blocking was a personal needing a time out.  So it didn't make sense.  I communicated this back...

+That was somewhat beyond active moderation, as I hadn't *reported* but the moderator had noted something, and in trying to ensure safety responded to having noted it (privately).
